We are recruiting for the Winter & Spring 2027 term (January 2027 – August 2027) for a Student, Engineering GIS. Reporting directly to the Supervisor, Data and Applications, this student role is responsible for providing first‑line GIS and application support to internal staff, including creating maps, updating and maintaining core GIS datasets, and developing web maps and applications to support organizational needs.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the first point of contact for phone calls and emails for Engineering staff regarding GIS updates and queries
Troubleshoot basic GIS-related problems, including map updates, both remotely and in-person
Follow and update existing documentation of GIS processes related to Engineering projects and create new documentation with other IT staff for consistent results
Receive, log and manage project and asset updates from internal Engineering via email and Teams

Qualifications

Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Civil Engineering, Geography, GIS, Geomatics or closely related field
0-3 years of related experience with GIS tools and technologies including ESRI GIS software products
Experience editing and maintaining spatial data; versioned editing experience considered an asset
Proficiency with ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, Survey123, Field Maps, ArcGIS Collector, ArcGIS Server, FME, ArcSDE, Spatial Analyst, Model Builder, Geocortex, and Python
Knowledge of civil infrastructure or water resource management
Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively in a team
Demonstrated decision-making skills involving routine tasks within established procedures
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Satisfactory passing of a criminal record check and proof of qualifications required

Working Conditions and Other Information

This position is based at Town Hall in Caledon. The rate of pay is $21.18 to $26.48 per hour based on a 35-hour work week.
